Quentin Tarantino To Launch The Hateful Eight As Part Of Old-Fashioned Roadshow Event

Quentin Tarantino will play Santa Claus to film fans on Christmas Day by launching an Old-Fashioned Roadshow to promote his new movie The Hateful Eight.The moviemaker has been teasing his plans to open the western to a huge fanfare and now he has announced dates and venues.
In a tweet on Monday (14Dec15), Tarantino wrote, "Old-fashioned Roadshow will Open Dec 25 for 2 wks (weeks) and exclusive for 1 wk in 44 markets in 100 theaters in classic theaters like Music Box Theater in Chicago, Hollywood Theater in Portland, Fox Theater in Detroit and Cinerama Dome in Los Angeles."
"We´ll go into theaters where they may not have movies anymore but we´ll set up our screens and projectors and let it rip," he adds. "If the theaters aren´t equipped with 70 mm, we will move screens in. I wanted it to be like Neil Diamond or Book of Mormon coming into town.
"It´s a herculean effort but we wanted an old school roadshow. It´s seven minutes longer and everyone who goes will get really cool programs hot off the presses with Hateful 8 pin-up T-shirt that says, ´I saw Hateful 8 in 70 mm´."
Tickets for the special screening went on sale on Monday.
The filmmaker recently revealed his roadshow plans during an appearance on U.S. late-night show Jimmy Kimmel Live, telling the host, "It was kinda a big thing (30 years ago), it was a big show... and now it´s kinda fallen down into almost you´re renting a chair for two hours and then you leave. So the idea here was to give everyone a big show."
The roadshow events will come with overture, composed by Ennio Morricone, who provided the score for the film.
