Roselyn Sanchez Clears Up Controversy Surrounding Miss Universe Co-Hosting Gig

Actress Roselyn Sanchez has urged critics to get their facts straight after she came under fire for signing on to co-host the Miss Universe pageant, which was formerly owned by Donald Trump.The Rush Hour 2 beauty famously dropped out of co-presenting the 2015 Miss USA competition over the summer (15), after becoming one of the first Latinos to attack Trump for negative remarks he made about Mexican immigrants living in America as he launched his run for the White House in June (15).
His derogatory comments prompted a public backlash, and at the time, the Puerto Rican star, a former beauty queen, denounced Trump´s remarks in a statement which read: "I was very excited and proud to have been invited to participate in Miss USA, but as a Latina, that is now inconceivable. Although I am not Mexican, I am Puerto Rican and a proud Latina, and his comments were an insult to our culture. I won´t sponsor anything produced by Donald Trump."
Bosses at U.S. network NBC went on to dump plans to broadcast the Miss USA show, part of the Miss Universe Organization, which they co-owned with Trump, and the real estate tycoon and reality TV personality subsequently bought out their shares and then sold the whole firm to executives at talent agency William Morris Endeavor and International Management Group.
This week (begs14Dec15), it was revealed Sanchez will be returning to the Miss Universe Organization to help host the 2015 Miss Universe pageant in Las Vegas on Sunday (20Dec15), and the announcement was met with mixed reactions from fans, many of whom were apparently unaware of the change in ownership and attacked her for taking on the work for the money.
Sanchez has since hit back at her detractors in a lengthy Instagram post in an effort to clear up the dispute once and for all.
Writing in Spanish, the actress accuses critics of making "reckless" comments without even realizing that Trump now "has nothing to do with the event", and goes on to insist she is a woman of her word, and would not make "stupid or bad decisions for money or exposure".
Sanchez will present behind-the-scenes portions of the 2015 Miss Universe contest from the Planet Hollywood resort, where comedian Steve Harvey will serve as host, for America´s Fox network.
