Tom Hanks´ rapper son Chet Haze is hoping his sobriety battle will help others struggling to kick substance abuse problems. In a series of videos posted on Instagram.com on Thursday (01Oct15), the aspiring hip-hop star, real name Chester Hanks, reveals he is clean and sober after undergoing a rehab stint earlier this year (15).Detailing the low he reached before agreeing to seek help, he says, "A couple of months ago, I was selling coke (cocaine), doing coke until I couldn´t even snort it up my nose anymore because it was so clogged. If I can change, you can change. There is a solution.
"I´ve been trying to get my s**t together and I´m doing pretty d**n good."
And now the aspiring rapper is hoping his journey to good health and sobriety will help others: "At the end of the day all the stupid s**t I was doing, that´s not who I am, that´s not who I want to be. It´s been a long journey for me discovering who I am because of all the pressures that I´ve dealt with in my life, being the son of my dad and everything and just trying to find where I fit in."
Hanks has made headlines for all the wrong things in recent months - even defending his use of the N-word in his songs.
He´s now apologizing for offending people.
The Oscar winner´s son, who is white, responded to criticism about his liberal use of the racial slur, insisting the term transcends race and is used to express "camaraderie and love" in the hip-hop community.
However, the 25 year old now accepts he was wrong.
"I know a lot of y´all kinda understood the point I was trying to make, but the truth is it´s not my place to speak on that," he adds. "I´m genuinely sorry for the people I offended."
