Hip-hop mogul Sean ´Diddy´ Combs was once reduced to tears watching period drama Downton Abbey after one of his favorite characters was killed off. The rapper has made no secret of his unlikely obsession with the British TV show, and in 2013, he duped fans into believing he had landed a role on the Julian Fellowes series.Producers denied the claims, and Combs later revealed a parody he had filmed for comedy website FunnyOrDie.com, titled Downtown Abbey, in which he portrayed an aristocrat named Lord Wolcott.
Now Combs is among the celebrity fans who have opened up about their love for the program on TV special Bafta Celebrates Downton Abbey, which airs in the U.K. on 21 December (15), ahead of the sixth and final season finale on Christmas Day (25Dec15).
"I’m a big fan of Downton Abbey," he says in the special. "I kind of stumbled on it. I’m interested in history, kings and lords. I watched episode one and got wrapped up in it."
